HCR covered whether she has a liberal bias,
recent Supreme Court cases relating to Presidential oversight, long-term consequences of
court appointments,
Flynn charges and Obamagate, anti-Asian sentiments, why people are NOT protesting for
income protection, and whether she is discouraged about the future.
HCR remains optimistic, but is concerned that we are on a "knife-edge" between liberty
and fascism, as a desperate President works to consolidate his
power. William P. Barr has become one of the key enablers in this consolidation, the latest
manifestation of which seems to be “Obamagate”, which hatched a few days ago (as a new
spin on the old Steele Dossier conspiracy theory), and now is doing the rounds on all
the right wing media outlets and forums. Behind the scenes, Barr has dispatched US
attorneys John Durham and Timothy Shea, and others, to work on systematically
dismantling the remnants of the investigation into Russia’s meddling in our elections,
even as we prepare for November.
But what motivates Barr? Keys to that may be found in
his infamous Notre Dame speech, and in how powerful ultra conservative elements in the
Catholic church’s leadership in the US view Trump’s role in furthering their agenda, a
view which was recently disclosed
( Trump is “more Catholic than JFK” )
.

Isaiah Berlin, introduction
Positive liberty refers to the notion that 'individuals should be able to govern themselves'. According to the article: 'One of the major problems with this concept of liberty, for Berlin, is that it can be used by totalitarian regimes to coerce their members into obedience in the name of freedom.' Negative liberty is 'simply the area within which a man can act unobstructed by others' Further, the article states that ‘Berlin maintains that there are priorities more basic than liberty: ensuring an adequate amount of security, food, and health comes before a concern for freedom. For another, it is clear that in order to provide the widest sphere of freedom to the widest number of people, there must be restraints on the freedom of some, or, in some areas, of all.’
